How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?

The cost of breast augmentation surgery varies from patient to patient depending on their individual needs. A few factors that are taken into consideration are the type of breast implant, the implant size, and the overall complexity of the procedure. During the consultation, we’ll analyze the current size of your breasts and develop a treatment plan based on your aesthetic goals. After we have determined the proper surgical plan, we’ll discuss the price you can expect to pay.

Recovery After Breast Augmentation

After breast augmentation surgery, you will need to take some time off to rest and recover for about 2 weeks after the procedure. You can expect some bruising and swelling after the surgery, but it will fade away in time. If you feel uncomfortable, we can also provide medication to help you manage it as you recover.

It’s important that you take some time away from work and strenuous physical activities during your period of recovery to ensure proper healing and the best results. We’ll provide you with detailed instructions to help guide you through the recovery process.

  • How Do I Prepare for a Breast Augmentation?

Get ready for your consultation with Dr. Johnson by going over the following information:
    ● Your Medical History: Take down notes regarding your complete medical history. This includes previous procedures, current and past medical concerns and conditions, allergies, and medications or supplements you are taking or have taken.
    ● Questions to Ask: Write out a list of questions in advance and bring it to your consultation. These should include questions about the details of breast augmentation, information about recovery, and the doctor’s history of performing the procedure.
  • What Type of Implants Should I Get?

There are a number of pros and cons when it comes to silicone and saline breast implants. Do your research online beforehand in order to help with your decision. The right choice for your goals will be discussed during your consultation.
  • What Size Breast Implants Should I Get?

In order to decide on the right breast implant size for you, it will be important to consider your overall proportions and frame. The right implants will give you the volume you want without creating an imbalance in your natural proportions.
  • Should I go with 375cc or 400cc for a full C cup?

The most important consideration in breast augmentation is the implant selection, deciding what breast shape and look is best for you. During our office consultation, we work extensively with photographs and trial bras. An excellent at-home exercise for you is to purchase the bra you wish to wear after breast enhancement. Pad the bra out smoothly and try on your clothing at home, with tops, shirts, jackets, to see how comfortable you will be with your new look. Once you visualize your ideal C cup, we can choose the proper implant with your look in mind. Focus on the look, not the number and you are sure to be pleased with your breast.
  • Is It Normal to Feel Anxious Before My Breast Augmentation?

It is completely normal to feel anxious before any invasive surgical procedure, including breast augmentation. Dr. Johnson will ensure that you fully understand the procedure beforehand so that you can make an informed decision. It will also help to look at before-and-after photos of past patients and to discuss the procedure with someone who has previously come in for it.
  • How do I exercise after breast augmentation?

With most breast augmentation procedures the upper half of your implant will be covered by the chest muscle and will remain sore for several weeks following your procedure. After you are fully healed you should have no difficulty returning to any activity you enjoyed prior to breast augmentation. Early in your recovery, however, you will be most comfortable exercising your lower body and can begin on a stationary cycle, stepper, or treadmill, until your chest relaxes and conforms to the implant. While the incisions are healing, heavy exercise and other strenuous activities are not recommended.
  • My chest is wide; can I get my breasts closer together?

Chest width and breast spacing are individual characteristics. Breast augmentation will center the implant under the nipple for the best shape and marriage between the two. Wide spacing can be minimized by choosing an implant with a broader base diameter to create more volume and cleavage toward the middle of the chest.
  • Will my nipples feel the same after augmentation?

Loss of sensation in the nipple is very uncommon and most often temporary after breast augmentation. Also, the nipple sensation might be normal though the feeling under the nipple might be the area of concern. Again, recovery is expected with a full return of normal feeling. The cause in nipple sensation can be related to the choice of a very large breast implant which can initially challenge the breast tissue during its settling and dropping. Though nipple sensation is commonly questioned, the risk to your nipple should be quite low.
  • How soon after my implants do I begin breast massage?

It is our preference to match the implant and pocket as precisely as possible. After breast augmentation we recommend a snug bra and a band wrap to keep the implant seated in the pocket, quiet, and free of irritation. For those that request a very full augmentation, settling might require several weeks and massage on the upper pole of the breast, pushing the implant inward and downward, can help with this process. Breast massage should be a relaxing and comfortable exercise much like stretching before a workout.
  • Should I wait for implants until after children?

The best time for breast augmentation is a personal choice. You can complete your augmentation at anytime without worry about pregnancy or future breast-feeding. We see many individuals who choose breast augmentation before having children, to diminish the post pregnancy droop and many after childbirth to restore breast shape and volume.
  • My nipples are small. Can I go through the armpit?

Breast augmentation can be performed through one of several approaches; around the nipple, in the breast fold, or under the arm called transaxillary. If your nipple is small and the breast fold modest, than transaxillary augmentation can be an ideal approach to keep the scar concealed and off the chest or breasts. You will notice that the implant will expand the breast and your nipple to some degree for an improved look.
  • My left breast is larger; will I get 2 different implants?

Breast asymmetries are quite common. The cause of uneven breast size can be due to a difference in breast volume or a difference in the skin envelope. Differences in breast volume are often corrected with a different implant in each breast to improve breast symmetry. This can involve the size, diameter, or profile necessary for symmetry. A difference in the skin envelope might require a form of breast lift for some, rather than adjustment of the breast implant alone.
  • I am a size 32 and want to be at least a 36 after breast augmentation.

The most important factor for successful breast augmentation is understanding what you wish to look like. Chest size is measured just under the breast fold and if you measured 32” before augmentation you’re likely to measure the same after your procedure. Cup size is related to chest size such that a 36” C might be the same as a 34” D. Bras will also vary depending on the manufacturer and a 32” in one brand may not fit as well as a 34” or 36” in another. A trial bra and photos you find attractive can help determine the best look for you. If the look is perfect, the tag on the bra is less important.
  • What do the terms Drop and Fluff mean?

Initially after breast augmentation, the breast can be tight. Tight skin in the lower portion of the breast can hold the implant higher in the breast pocket. Over time, the lower pole will relax. The breast and implant will shape to one another, so that they look, feel, and move as one. This relaxation is called dropping and for some it can occur several weeks after augmentation. Best results often are seen after 6 months to one year. The term fluff has appeared on internet chat sites between women to explain their experience and understanding of the recovery process.
