Dr. Johnson and the Center of Aesthetic Surgery are pleased to now be offering KYBELLA®, a non-surgical solution to define the jaw-line and remove the appearance of a double chin, and/or any apparent laxity in the neck area.

If you have been troubled by unwanted fullness, or fatness around your neck, KYBELLA® treatments can effectively remove these areas of concern, refreshing your overall vitality in appearance. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that breaks down fat cells, removing them permanently. As an injectable fat-dissolver, KYBELLA® is mostly indicated for:

  • Elimination of a fatty neck line
  • Removal of a double chin
  • Reduce neck sagging
  • A general neck-slimming procedure, (without surgery)

KYBELLA® is the first, and only FDA/clinically proven, non-surgical treatment to reduce under-chin fullness. To define the jaw-line, it is performed as a series of 2-6 injection sessions, thoroughly and permanently removing excess fat. (Additionally, this treatment is completed in approximately 30 minutes a session, with little to no downtime, and minimal discomfort.)

For patients with moderate to severe submental fat, treatments with KYBELLA® are conducted by Dr. Johnson only, a board-certified plastic surgeon, and preferred user of the Allergan product line, (makers of KYBELLA®).

Many patients, of all ages, feel that having a fuller, fattier neck and/or chin area causes them to appear much older, and less healthy than they are. While we have always offered proven solutions for excess fat removal, such as Liposuction and Neck Lift, KYBELLA® now offers us an effective, non-surgical approach.

Dr. Johnson will carefully guide you through a comprehensive consultation and assessment, to see if KYBELLA® is the best option for improving your chin and neck contours.

What Is the KYBELLA® Treatment Process Like?

Your first step is to arrange a consultation with Dr. Johnson, who will then review treatment options with you individually, beginning with an initial assessment of your neck, examining various aspects such as fat distribution and skin tone. This will provide further indications towards treatment preparations, so that we can inform you of the number of treatment sessions necessary, along with any post-treatment care.

The treatments performed in our office begin with the application of topical local anesthesia, and mapping of the treatment area. The injection series is then performed, with minimal discomfort. Afterwards, ice is applied to reduce any emergence of inflammation. Common reactions to KYBELLA® are typically mild, such as light swelling, partial bruising, numbness and/or stiffness in the neck, all which will resolve within a few days after a treatment period. A progress assessment, and/or any scheduled re-treatment (as indicated), is completed in 4-6 week intervals, until desired treatment goals are reached.

What Is the Cost of KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® is a customizable treatment, which varies for each patient’s individual goals desired. The average individual would need between 2-4 treatment sessions, (but some may need as many as 6 sessions). Because of these variations, the total cost of an average KYBELLA® treatment series will vary depending on need.
